Correctional Officer award impairment benefits for work-related hypertension
A Correctional Officer for the State of Florida had compensable, work-related hypertension under the Heart Bill found in Section 112.18(1), Florida Statutes. However, the State provided cardiologist decided that he had a zero percent (0%) impairment rating, meaning that no impairment benefit payments were being made. We were able to secure a more favorable opinion on the impairment rating, which lead to the State paying tens of thousands of dollars in tax-free impairment benefits to the Correctional Officer.
